On 7 August, Lithuania will take command of the unit, the Defence Ministry said.
Elbe and Kursis are the first ships of the NATO Mine Counter-Measures Group ONE (SNMCMG1). Until the official command changeover in the next week, other ships of the group will arrive in Klaipėda.
The Lithuanian-led group will include mine counter-measures groups from Belgium, Estonia, Germany, Latvia, Poland, the Netherlands and Norway.
