Andriukaitis, meanwhile, say that his Directorate General for Health and Food Safety talked with colleagues in Moscow about a possibility to end the embargo on certain groups of products to all member-states of the EU.

“Europe is being divided because of the actions of this Directorate as separate member-states are provided with opportunities and Russia is proposed to start negotiations with individual countries. The responsibility for this division of Europe falls on the Directorate, headed by a Commissioner who was appointed by Lithuania,” the president said to reporters on Thursday.

Lithuanian Prime Minister Algirdas Butkevičius who delegated the European Commissioner claims that Andriukaitis had told him that the European Commission did not seek for any initiatives to create favourable conditions for any individual member-states to enter into negotiations with Russia.

As reported, Russia might allow importing pork from France, Hungary, Italy, Germany, Denmark and the Netherlands. Russia imposed an embargo on the EU after it announced sanctions against Russia due to the annexation of Crimea and participation in the conflict in Ukraine.
