Refugees will not be forced to come to Lithuania, PM says

“I believe that their own security should be the top priority for migrants. It would be very difficult to bring by force those people who are currently in Greece or other member-states of the European Union,” the PM told reporters on Wednesday.

On 5 October, an inter-ministerial delegation led by Deputy Interior Minister Elvinas Jankevičius left for Greece where they met with local officials working with asylum applicants. Lithuania had previously informed Greece that it was ready to take in a Syrian family; however, no migrants expressed wishes to come to Lithuania.
