In the document, the Seimas invites the neighboring country to continue implementing the LitPol Link and GIPL projects with Lithuania in order to synchronize the Baltic electricity system with the continental European network, ensure greater gas supply security and competition in the regional gas market, and move toward a final solution of the problem of the Baltic countries as “energy islands” within Europe.
The Seimas also calls on Poland to get more involved in and to continue working together to ensure the smooth implementation of the Rail Baltica project and asks the neighboring country to support Lithuania’s international initiatives against Belarus’ unsafe nuclear power plant project.
The lawmakers also urge the two countries to cooperate at international level in seeking the evaluation of Communist and Nazi crimes and to work together with regional partners in the European Union in formulating an ambitious vision of the Eastern Partnership policy.
At the same time, the Seimas calls on Russia to fully cooperate with Poland’s authorities in a re-launched investigation of the 2010 presidential plane crash in Smolensk.
