Vilnius and Kaunas to hold concerts in support of Ukraine

The concerts will feature performers from Lithuania and Ukraine, as well as the Orchestra of the Armed Forces. They will perform in Kaunas on Dec. 14 and in Vilnius on Dec. 15. The donated money will go towards buying prosthetic limbs in Lithuania.

“The money we raise will stay in Lithuania, so that we can buy prosthetic items in Lithuania. We envisage that patients will be from the Dnepropetrovsk hospital,” Gintaras Kamsiukas, organizer of the charity project, told journalists on Friday.

In his words, similar concerts are planned abroad in the future.

Ukraine’s Ambassador to Lithuania Valery Zhovtenko said the concert at the Palace of the Grand Dukes of Lithuania in Vilnius will recall the historic connections between Lithuania and Ukraine.

“The concert will take place at the Palace of the Grand Dukes of Lithuania, which should recall the past we shared in the times of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania. It is very symbolic. Lithuania and Ukraine are together again, as Russia wants to invade our territory. We value our freedom, homeland and friendship of countries,” the Ukrainian ambassador said.

The diplomat said he is convinced that the people of Lithuania understand that the war in Ukraine is “a joint struggle for freedom and future.”

Donations to Ukraine can also be made on aukok.lt donations website, as well as by way of SMS to 1405 with a text 1405. Each SMS will cost 5 litas or 1.45 euros.
