Lithuanian MP: Russia’s policies in Ukraine are in dead-end

The member of parliament said in an interview to the Žinių Radijas radio that the war in Ukraine was not over yet, despite a declared ceasefire last Friday.

“Information is still coming in about ongoing clashes in various places. Ukrainian soldiers died yesterday, which means that the conflict is continuing. However, I think news from Frank-Walter Steinmeier (German Foreign Minister – ELTA) that Russia has committed to withdraw all troops from the territory of Ukraine is a fairly optimistic sign. If it is true, and I think Germany is talking to Russia seriously, then it is a step forward,” said Kirkilas.

On the other hand, he recalled a discussion with Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Oleksandr Turchynov, who visited Lithuania and informed that Ukraine had been shelled from the territory of Russia and when the Ukrainian forces recaptured territories they came under artillery barrages.
