“Russia’s intervention in Syria will probably increase emigration flows and is likely to push anti-Assad fighters closer to Islamic State. This will increase pressure on Europe,” the Lithuanian president told reporters in Switzerland, according to BNS.

Last week, Russia launched airstrikes on targets in Syria, saying the goal is to defeat Islamic State. However, the United States and Western leaders criticize the move, saying Moscow is attacking opposition forces to Syrian President Bashar al-Assad rather than the terrorists of Islamic State.
