Russian jets and warships detected at Latvian borders

As reported, Russian military planes have been observed flying near Latvian territory waters quite often in recent months.

They usually operate with their automatic receivers off and without a flight plan, refusing to respond to civilian air-controllers.

In response to Russia‘s incursion in Ukraine, four Polish, four British and four Danish fighter jets are currently patrolling the Baltic region’s air space.

Russian ship near Latvian waters

On Tuesday, a Russian naval ship was observed near Latvian territorial waters by the town of Liepaja, the National Armed Forces informed LETA.

The Russian navy ship “Syzran” was observed approximately 6.5 nautical miles from Latvian territorial waters.

The ship has not entered Latvian waters, thus the Latvian Navy is only tracking the ship’s movements at the moment.

Similar incidents took place on 24 and 21 June when the Russian ships “Soobrazitelny” and “Boikiy” were observed near Latvian waters.
